Seva School Capital Programme

UPDATE 24th May 2023: New newsletter tab to house our monthly expansion updates and showcase visual progress.

What is the Seva School Capital Programme?

The Seva School capital programme (or referenced as Seva School expansion) is the delivery of one all-through school campus that will provide educational facilities for pupils in Reception to year 11. This includes refurbishment works and building extensions to the existing Seva School buildings at Link House and Eden House, along with delivery of external sports facilities.

What is being delivered?

As part of the agreed contract, Bowmer & Kirkland will be delivering the following for our school:

Link House Building

  • New Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)

  • New Diwan Hall (Sikh Faith Education Facility) with shoe room

  • New enclosed stairwells for improved access

  • New extended Kitchen with new kitchen equipment

  • New Library

  • Flexible studio

  • Fully refurbished new classrooms including Music, Dance, Drama Art, ICT, Design and Food Technology.

Eden House Building

  • New 3G sports pitch with floodlights, this is Sports England approved

  • New Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)

  • New Indoor Sports Hall with changing/shower facilities

  • New Dining space

  • New Library

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Facilities

  • New state of the art classrooms including Science laboratories, ICT and Business suite

Timings and key milestones

The capital programme is estimated to take 2.5 years to fully deliver. The time for delivery must take into account that Seva is a live school, and the works will have to be phased to ensure education delivery is unaffected. The phased work will mean that elements of the site become operational and handed over to the school at key milestones. The table shows some of these key milestones, but we must stress they are subject to change:

Impact on School

As the school is a live environment, we must ensure the quality of good education is maintained whilst the capital programme is being delivered. The work will impact us all and we will need to work together as a team. The school will need to be responsive to requests of the capital programme, which may result in the following:

  • Temporary traffic management plans (pupil drop off and pick up)

  • Changes made at short notice

  • Temporary amendments to the school day where necessary

As always, we will aim to give pupils/parents as much notice as possible prior to any changes. There may be inconvenience caused at times and we request you work with us to minimise the impact of these. Your support whilst the expansion is delivered will be much appreciated. These short-term disturbances will provide our pupils with the long-term facilties and support they deserve.

Community Use Facilities

As part of our planning approval, we have secured the agreement to hire out specific facilities out of school hours. This will include the hiring of the 3G sports pitches, 2 multi use games areas (MUGA’s), indoor sports hall and the Diwan Hall.

We are currently in process of developing how the community use hiring of our facilities will operate and the associated costs. If you do have an initial interest, please get in touch by emailing bookings@seva.coventry.sch.uk
